⚖️ Terms & Conditions

Welcome to PharmRx. By accepting these terms, you agree to use this application responsibly, ethically, and in accordance with applicable laws governing pharmaceutical practice in your country.

1. Authorized Use

This application is strictly intended for use by licensed healthcare professionals authorized by law to prescribe medications, including: Medical Doctors (MDs), Dentists, Veterinary Practitioners, Nurse Practitioners, Herbal Practitioners, and Alternative Medical Practitioners duly registered with recognized regulatory bodies. Unauthorized use by persons not holding a valid prescribing license is prohibited and may attract legal liability.

2. Accuracy of Prescriptions

The prescriber bears full professional and legal responsibility for the accuracy, appropriateness, and completeness of every prescription generated using this application. Prescriptions must comply with relevant national Medicines Acts, the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) guidelines, and the Pharmacy Act 1994 (Act 489) where applicable.

3. Patient Confidentiality

All patient information entered into this application is stored locally on your device only. No patient data is transmitted to any external server. You are obligated to maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with your country's data protection legislation (e.g., Data Protection Act 2012, Act 843, Ghana). You must not share prescription records containing identifiable patient information without the patient's informed consent or lawful authority.

4. Drug Safety & Name Confusion

Several drug names are similar and may cause confusion. You must exercise extreme caution when entering drug names. Always write drug names in full (e.g., Carbamazepine vs. Carbimazole; Mebendazole vs. Metronidazole). This application does not automatically verify drug names against a database and cannot prevent medication errors arising from incorrect entries.

5. Record Keeping

Under Section 34(1) of the Pharmacy Act 1994 (Act 489), any person supplying Class A or B drugs must maintain a Dangerous Drug Record. For controlled substances, records must include the date, patient name, prescriber name, drug name, quantity, and batch number. You are responsible for ensuring all required records are maintained as prescribed by law.

6. Dosage Verification

Unusually high or low doses must always be queried with the prescriber before dispensing. For pediatric patients (under 12 years), dosages must be calculated based on body weight (mg/kg) where applicable. This application provides a framework for prescription writing but does NOT perform clinical dose verification. Professional judgment remains paramount.

7. Prescription Validity

Prescriptions are time-limited legal documents. Once the validity period has elapsed, the prescription must not be dispensed. Repeat prescriptions may be dispensed the number of times indicated by the prescriber, after which a new prescription is required. Post-dated prescriptions are generally not acceptable.

8. Veterinary Prescriptions

Prescriptions for animals must state the type of animal, its weight, and the owner's full name. The veterinary practitioner must be duly registered. Animal medicines must not be dispensed to human patients under any circumstances.

9. Electronic Signatures

Electronic signatures and typed names used in this application are accepted as the prescriber's declaration of authenticity. By signing, the prescriber warrants that the prescription is accurate, lawful, and issued in good faith for the named patient or animal. Misuse of another prescriber's signature constitutes fraud and is a criminal offence.

10. Disclaimer of Liability

PharmRx and its creators (KNUST Rx31 Batch) provide this application on an "as-is" basis for educational and professional convenience. We disclaim all liability for medication errors, patient harm, or legal consequences arising from the use or misuse of this application. Users assume full professional and legal responsibility for all prescriptions generated.

11. Updates & Compliance

Pharmaceutical laws and regulations are subject to change. You are responsible for ensuring your prescribing practices remain current with applicable regulations. This application does not guarantee compliance with any particular legal framework.

12. Acceptance

By ticking the checkbox and accepting these terms, you confirm that you are a licensed prescriber, that you have read and understood these terms, and that you agree to use PharmRx responsibly and in accordance with all applicable professional and legal obligations.
